WORKSHOP: Homeschooling Through High School, Part 1 – Monday, Feb. 6th

You are invited to a FREE workshop: “Homeschooling Through High School – Part 1” on Monday, February 6th, at 7:00 pm, at the Circle of Life Hospice Building in Springdale/Tontitown.

Homeschooling Through High School – Part One

Please note: This is a 2 to 2.5 hour long workshop!

Information for parents on high school courses and credits, grades, diplomas, transcripts, and graduation – either to prepare for applying to colleges OR to make plans for life/career for a student who is not college-bound.  Non-college options like trade schools and beauty schools will also be discussed.  It will be most helpful to attend before your student enters 9th grade (high school = 9th-12th grades.)  It would also be beneficial to someone who is considering homeschooling their older student for the first time.

Marni has been asked before if this workshop would benefit a parent whose student was just entering 7th grade.  This is how she replied:
“Absolutely.  I went to my first class like this when my son was in the 8th grade and I wish I would have gone earlier.  It is needed to get a big picture of what classes they need to take over those last 4 yrs, what colleges want to see, etc.  I think I would have been more diligent about what he completed in 7th and 8th grades, in order to be ready to do certain classes in 9th grade and beyond, if I would have been more prepared.  Plus, just getting rid of my ignorance helped me not to dread that season as much.”

Some parents have attended early on, before 9th grade, then again when their student is older, for a refresher.

– This is a FREE workshop, but donations are accepted to help cover the cost of handouts.  (Donations for this particular workshop are especially appreciated since the number of pages per handout and the attendance are both high.)
– RSVP’s are not needed.  It’s OK to come late or leave early.
– Childcare is NOT provided. Nursing infants and babes in arms are welcome, but please do not bring older children who will be a distraction to others during the presentation.

In case of inclement weather, we will post cancellations on this website. If you are concerned about the weather, please feel free to call Marni to find out whether the worship has been postponed:  479-444-6405

Homeschooling Through High School – Part Two will take place on March 6th, same place, same time: Specifically for parents with students who might go, or are planning to go, to a 2-or-4 year college – ACT/SAT tests, applying to colleges, financial aid and scholarships, etc.

Directions to Circle of Life Hospice:

From I49, take the Holiday Inn exit in Springdale (exit 72) and go west toward Tontitown.
Near Tontitown, turn right at the Jones Rd. stoplight. There is a Harps on the right at that intersection.
Circle of Life is the first building on the right after Harps, 901 Jones Rd.
It says “Circle of Life” on the building, but at the entrance there is a
sign that says “Willard and Pat Walker Family Center” and another that says “Earlene Howard Hospice Home”.
